How we check codes
Pull, type, date, retire, listen: what "checked by real people" means here.
“Checked by real people” is the promise on the front page. This is what it involves, every morning.
Pull
We collect the day’s offers from retailers’ affiliate programme feeds. Anything that is not a real discount for a US shopper is dropped at this stage: foreign-currency offers, restricted categories, duplicates and plain links pretending to be codes.
Type
A person opens the retailer’s site, adds an item to the basket and types the code. If the discount does not appear, the code is not listed. The title is rewritten so it says what the saving actually is, and the terms are pulled out into a short line.
Date
The retailer’s end date is written on the card. If the retailer gave none, the card says “no end date given” — we do not invent deadlines.
Retire
On its end date an offer leaves every live list. It is kept for a few days in a clearly labelled expired section so you can see what changed, then deleted.
Listen
If a code fails for you, report it. It is re-typed the same day and removed if it has stopped working.
